The TRONO fits into a carry bag you sling over your shoulder and inflates in seconds to give you a comfortable chair.

There’s a ton of inflatable beach loungers available online.

Marijn Oomen is the inventor of the original inflatable lounger (called the Lamzac; licensed to Fatboy), but it seems China got a hold of his design and started pumping them out, one for each McDonald’s burger that’s sold. In other words, you can get them anywhere. With fries.

They come in many guises. Some brand names include Air Lounge, Air Nest and Wind Pouch, to name a few. (Oh, and don’t forget the KAISR Original guys, who created a crowdfunding campaign, received millions and jumped the planet. They might be lounging around on Lamzacs in South America somewhere, sipping on crowdfunded piña coladas.)

But it’s all the same product. Some companies might throw in a slight design twist, but at their core they work the same.

To be sure, inflatable loungers are lovely products. My wife and I tested one at a local shop, and although she didn’t like it, I could get used to lazing in one.

But here’s an original twist on Mr Oomen’s Lamzac.

It’s an inflatable chair made by a Dutch company.

Let’s take a look…

What is the TRONO?

The TRONO is an inflatable chair. According to their website, it’s the lightest chair in the world.

It works on the same principle as the Lamzac. It’s a bag you swing around to fill with air and close to keep the air in. In the case of the Lamzac, you lie down straight, as if on a bed. The TRONO lets you sit upright.

How does it work?

Follow these five steps to use the TRONO:

  1. Remove the TRONO from its bag.
  2. Shake it open.
  3. Grab the bag at the back, one hand on each side of the large valve.
  4. Swing the bag around to fill it with air.
  5. Snap the valve closed and roll it up to keep the air inside.

The TRONO weighs 0.8 kgs (1.76 lbs).

That’s only 18 KitKats. And KitKats, although one of man’s greatest achievements, are bad for you. The TRONO isn’t.

What about wind?

A slight breeze will send your TRONO flying, but the creator of the product thought of that.

The TRONO comes with built-in leashes that you use to peg it to the ground.

You can buy TRONO ground pegs. I suspect normal tent pegs works fine too.

The make the TRONO from a triple coated nylon material.

It handles up to 150 kgs (330,69 lbs). Tongan rugby player, Opeti Fonua, makes the cut. (Do you have any idea how big that man is?)

Every TRONO ships with a water-repellent suede cover, which zips onto the TRONO and adds a layer of protection. The covers are machine washable.

Bottom protector

You can buy a bottom protector for the TRONO. This adds a layer of protection so you can set your TRONO down in rough places.

You could use a rubber or plastic mat too.

Return policy

You have 30 days from date of purchase to return the TRONO. It must be in the state you bought it in and shipping is for your account.

Final thoughts

The TRONO looks like a lovely product.

It’s quick. In a few seconds you have a seat set up.

It’s lightweight. Carry it with you wherever you go. It weighs in at less than a kilo.

It’s tough. It’s made from a triple coated nylon material and handles up to 150kgs (330,69lbs).

It looks more comfortable than a Lamzac, and inflates in an identical manner. But it seems to fit a social setting better, where you want to sit and chill with friends, not just soak up the sun.

I recommend you check out the TRONO. It’s receiving good reviews too.
